In the music world realm, digital distribution is the main reason why so many artists are successful. Without all the streaming sites and apps most people wouldn't have the accessibility to listen to music that frequently. Along with so many artists not being discovered because they are very limited to exposure and ways to promote their work. Today's generation revolves solely around technology and social media, so the best way to reach out to people all across the globe is on the internet. Distributors use online outlets to get their records in the hands of other listeners. Each year the amount of people that stream music online goes up and up, and is continuing to climb. Digital music distribution has taken the centerstage, digital surpassed sales of physical medians for the first time in 2015. Most popular artists today are getting most of the viewers and plays off of social media outlets and music apps other than physical CD copies or music records. As an artist, digital distribution has become a must in order to reach all of your potential fans, doing so increases your chances of being noticed, which can lead to your brand growing or being seen by a big time record label. These sources are like digital record shops that contain the music all across the world, which makes everything more convenient for the listeners. One of the most important reasons why digital distribution is going to be here for the long-haul is because of the profit that it gets. It benefits all three sides. It's a win win win situation, including the artists, listeners, and streaming platforms. The streaming platforms make money off of all of the artists paying to be on their site, all of the listeners paying monthly subscriptions or yearly subscriptions to stream music off of. They also get a ton of money from advertisements that pay to be advertised on their site in front of all the listeners, it costs thousands and thousands of dollars for a fifteen to thirty second advertisement or short message. The artists benefit because they get paid for every single stream that they receive, they also get to keep 100% of the royalties there’s no sharing it in between promoters and other management. The artist also gets to make their name or known which can be used for other social media outlets which promote a ton of money for example Instagram, Twitter, TikTok they all pay huge amounts of cash to popular artists to promote their apps or sites. Lastly, which is most important to the fans, the price of ten dollars a month is almost unbelievably cheap. It could cost up to nearly thirteen dollars for a single cd album, with a ten dollar monthly subscription you could listen to almost every single published song in the world, all countries, all sized artists for the same price as a single copy cd. It makes the most sense to continue promoting and streaming music this way. Although, some people may say it's harder for the older generations to listen to music this way, because they aren't as tech savvy. While on the other hand you have to realize the world as a whole is progressively becoming more reliant on technology so sooner or later everything will be technology required, or made digitally. So there's no way around this new time of life, which makes it smarter to just join the new wave of life now before it's too late and more difficult to catch up with all the new advancements and improvements. In Conclusion, digital distribution is on the rise and here to take the throne. Taking social media life to a whole new level, for the better. Which makes everything relating to music vital to the digital world.
